Hey,

I'm looking for a monitor, I have up to ( max ) £550 to spend.
It needs to work well with:

Current graphics cards: Crossfire ATI 6850 1gb cards.
Current Monitor : Dell SP2309W ( 23 " )

I really need a second monitor for a few reasons:
- Productivity, I love my current monitor, but I still have way too many windows open and would love the extra space.
- Upcoming tech, as a computer science student and Lead QA I need to keep up with technology, I know windows 8 is likely to heavily utilise touch screen technology, in my downtime I would love to watch the odd 3d blu ray.

Really,.. I would like touch screen and 3D, I don't think this will be possible. With my current graphics cards although the boxes say 3D on them, I'm not certain if I just buy a 3D capable monitor, plug it in and fire up a 3D blu ray if it will work.

Any advice is much much appreciated on any of this, just ideas.. I'm doing a bit of brain storming for ideas here to see what I actually need, and what will be useful in the future.

Thanks!

So.. I spent some time looking for ATi supported 3d monitors, and on the list found these two which took my eye. The price difference is huge, so I really need to consider.

If the picture quality is roughly the same i'd go for the cheaper of the two, but I would like the larger screen and nicer design of the more expensive one, and I think if the picture will be lots better, then I would take it.

Any thoughts?

Thanks padmdhs, I think you're right. If I'm not going 3d though or touchscreen ( which actually I would probably find very irritating after a week or so ), I don't think I would be needing to spend that much money on such a high quality Ips. The reason being, I need a new monitor for the extra screen space and multitasking, and I'm happy to pay a little bit more for 3d or touch, but Ips seems to be a lot more and although I care about the quality, I don't think it has that price tag for me especially if some time in the future I need 3d for something. I'm sure that's a brilliant monitor and brilliant for creative work and gaming, but really for what I want I don't think it's necessary, it's mainly just for space and I would like a few extra features.

With how hit and miss it is with 3d, I think I will maybe just go for a cheaper 23 inch screen just for the space rather than quality and 3d.
