Hi all,

My current Pc is only a pent 4 3.0 and its really struggling to play new games.

I therefore am after a new gaming PC and im on a budget of only £600. Im after a PC that will run all the new games if possible and last me a good 3-4 years into the future.

Can anyone spec me a PC that will do this for £600 or is this not possible.

Ive never built a PC before so this is all going to be new to me.

thanks kindly

Currently been playing on 1280x 1024. If i could run games higher than that that would be excellent.

I guess i could use my old monitor and buy a new one later unless its possible to get a monitor as well for £650

Here's what i built not too long back, not sure if the prices are the same but its got good performance which can easily be sli'd with another 8800gt, or you could scrap the 8800gt for a better card :

750is are pretty naff boards compared to a P45
maxtor drives have a bad reputation for failure
the 4850 is much better bang for buck at the moment.

well show me a link where it says maxtor drives fail, or that the msi p7n is a bad board. Ive managed to overclock the q6600 on stock to 3.2ghz with no problems, its a cheap solution for potential sli and the hard drive hasn't failed me once. (even though im gonna sell the 8800gt and get the 280 pretty soon).

a P45 board would be a much better board for overclocking than a 750i, because the P45 boards are the ebst overclocking boards around.

I'll do a search re Maxtor HDDs now

HAhaha everyone hates maxtor. Mines running fine atm so I cant complain, single card solution your right the P45 would do the job, but for 2way sli id recommend the 750i. (im nvidia fanboy)

If I were the OP, I'd use the current monitor and get this spec but use the extra available budget to try and squeeze in 4gb RAM, a sound card, and a 4870 :) This will give you a decent system capable of running a far higher resolution when you can afford to upgrade your monitor as well.
