Havent looked at PCs for a while so Im sure Ive made some mistakes/better cheaper components to use.
Also, how do you link all the components so it comes up all nice.

Basically I am wanting to get back into PC gaming after a long hiatus. The PC will be primarily used for gaming as well as all the other usual things. I might try my hand at making videos but I think an i5 3570k should suffice for my needs.

Budget: £1100 although if you can go cheaper without sacrificing the over all build then that's cool (cant go over that unfortunately)

Already Have: Monitor, Keyboard and Speakers.

Need: Everything else.

Special Requirements: Looking at the E3 vids for PS2 it seems they were using the 670 so that is the card I would like to use. I was thinking about this one: http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=GX-095-GI

Also, I will be needing a mouse I thought that the Logitech G500 5700DPI Gaming Mouse looked like a good one to choose although I am open to suggestions.

I will be needing Windows 7.

I might try my hand at OC in the future so a decent PSU and cooling would be good but nothing too serious.

One big question I had was to go with an SSD or not. I wasnt sure on my budget if it would hold back the build in other areas.

I will need a network card as I will be playing wirelessly for the time being.

It would be a bonus if the case had dust filters.

And finally, I have speakers but I was wondering whether it would be worth getting a headset. I was thinking of just using a microphone to save money. Any ideas on this as well would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

I've just noticed that the PSU is out of stock, can anyone recommend an alternative? I was also wondering if it had enough to OC with? Lastly what is the mobo and RAM that comes with it any good or should I buy separately. Would really appreciate a response on the matter.
Cheers

First of all thanks for all the suggestions. The above build is the one that fits my needs the most atm.
Just a few question (sorry if they are a bit idiotic its just Ive been out of the PC world for a while)
1) What is the difference between the GFX card I initially choose and the one chosen in this build apart from price? (The one I choose can be found here:Gigabyte GeForce GTX 670 Windforce 3X 2048MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Card)
2) To save a bit of money could I drop the SSD and purchase one at a later date or would this not be advisable?
3) How easy is the case to operate/put components in? As I said I havent been in the PC scene for some time so a user friendly case would be cool.

Cheers again

1) It uses the stock cooler, so it's just the basic 670. Might be louder though, so could swap it to the Gigabyte if noise bothers you. The KFA2 in honosuseri's spec should be pretty cool and quiet as well.

2) Up to you, but personally for this sort of budget, the SSD is very worth while as it can chop boot/loading times. It will also make the system feel more snappier as well.

3) The case looks quite spacious, you may need to remove the middle harddrive cage to fit the 670. But overall it doesn't look that bad to fit the the components in, should have no problems with that.

As honosuseri has mentioned, you can swap the CPU to the OEM version of the 3570K, only difference is that it doesn't come with a stock Intel cooler and is only 1 year warranty as opposed to 3 years on the retail. This will save you a good £20 since it's on offer for this week.

That's good to hear. One last question before I checkout. Does the cpu cooler come with thermal paste or do I need to buy some. If so what paste should I use?
Cheers once again.

Sorry one last question before I check out. (really is the last one this time lol).
Just been looking at my old PC and it has a DVD drive. Supposedly, since I will be using steam for gaming I can use this one and save myself £15. It is about 5 years old but still works. I wont be loosing much will I?

I did indeed use the OEM CPU. In my experience CPU failure is very very rare, the heatsink i used is better than the Gelid tranquillo (i own the gelid btw). The difference in price from retail to OEM practically pays for the matterhorn heatsink ;)

The 670 I used is preoverclocked to over 1Ghz and doesnt use the stock cooler as orcvader mentioned. To SLI you really need 700W minimum hence me spec'ing the 750W modular PSU.

The Z9 is a great case and a bargain whilst on offer but if you want the CM case fair enough.

If you are not bothered about SLI and have a sata optical drive I would suggest this......

YOUR BASKET
1 x KFA2 GeForce GTX 670 EX OC 2048MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Card £323.99
1 x Intel Core i5-3570K 3.40GHz (Ivybridge) Socket LGA1155 Processor (77W) - OEM £167.99
1 x Plextor M2S 256GB SATA 6Gb/s Solid State Hard Drive (PX-256M2S) £124.99
1 x Seagate Barracuda Green 2TB SATA 6Gb/s Hard Drive - OEM (ST2000DL003) £89.99
1 x Gigabyte Z77-D3H Intel Z77 (Socket 1155) DDR3 Motherboard £79.99
1 x Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium SP1 64-Bit - OEM (GFC-02050) £79.98
1 x CM Storm Enforcer Gaming Case - Black £74.99
1 x OCZ ZT 550W '80 Plus Bronze' Modular Power Supply £63.98
1 x Corsair XMS3 8GB (2x4GB) DDR3 PC3-12800C9 1600MHz Dual Channel Kit (CMX8GX3M2A1600C9) £43.19
1 x Logitech G500 5700DPI Gaming Mouse (910-001262) £32.99
1 x Alpenföhn Matterhorn Pure Edition CPU Cooler (Socket LGA2011/1366/1155/1156/775/ AMD AM3/AM3+/AM2/AM2+/FM1) £26.39
1 x TP-Link 300Mbps Wireless N PCI Express Adapter (TL-WN881ND) £16.99
Total : £1,125.46 (includes shipping : FREE).

I kept your desired case in the spec. Having the SSD will make a noticable improvement to the OS and to the load times of games installed to it. If you notice my SSD has a higher capacity so you could fit more games on it and the storage drive has double the capacity too ;) If you want to save cash rather than omit the SSD, drop the OS and use windows 8 DC as i mentioned before. You get free delivery so you can pick an OS up much later without any extra cost and dito with the headset. Just wait till stuff you like comes up on offer :)

Ok cheers for all the suggestions. Turns out I do need the DVD drive.

Here is what I have gone with.
1 x KFA2 GeForce GTX 670 EX OC 2048MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Card
1 x Intel Core i5-3570K 3.40GHz (Ivybridge) Socket LGA1155 Processor (77W) - Retail
1 x Gigabyte Z77X-D3H Intel Z77 (Socket 1155) DDR3 Motherboard
1 x OCZ ZT 750W '80 Plus Bronze' Modular Power Supply
1 x Samsung 128GB SSD 830 Desktop Series SATA 6Gb/s KIT with Norton Ghost
1 x Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium SP1 64-Bit - OEM
1 x CM Storm Enforcer Gaming Case - Black
1 x Seagate Barracuda 7200RPM 1TB SATA 6Gb/s 64MB Cache - OEM
1 xCorsair XMS3 8GB (2x4GB) DDR3 PC3-12800C9 1600MHz Dual Channel Kit
1 x Logitech G500 5700DPI Gaming Mouse
1 x Alpenföhn Matterhorn Pure Edition CPU Cooler
1 x Sony Optiarc AD-7280S 24x DVD±RW SATA ReWriter (Black)
1 x TP-Link 150Mbps High Gain Wireless-N USB Adapter - with Cradle
Cheers for all the advice. I decided to keep the SSD but only go for 128GB as if I need more space in the future I can always upgrade. I also dont see myself filling 2 TB for the HDD either so I kept it at 1TB. I did switch to the 750W PSU for SLI in the future. I also switched out the cooler for the Alpenföhn Matterhorn as suggested.

I still have a couple of questions.
1) Since Ive mixed and matched slightly between two builds will all the components Ive chosen work together?
2) Does the Alpenföhn Matterhorn come with thermal paste?
3) The only reason Im going with the case at the moment is because it has dust filters and I cant see that the Zalman Z9 Plus Tower Case has any. If it does then I would switch to the Zalman.

FF

1) No problems with that. Looks like a very good build, should be able to handle the latest games for the next few years :).

2) Reading this review, it looks like the cooler does come with paste, so no need to worry about that: http://www.vortez.net/articles_pages/alpenfoehn_matterhorn_pure_cpu_cooler_review,1.html

3) Don't think the Zalman does have dust filters. Honestly, the case is heavily down to personal preference, one person may like the look of it, another person might not. You can always buy dust filters anyway if a case you like doesn't come with any.
