Please spec me a work horse pc.

Help! Im a pc gamer and as far as pc's go that's all i know but... My nephew wants a pc for work, multitasking etc so i hear intel is the way forward (i'm a amd guy)
Im not sure what his budget will be so im guessing at £1500.

Ask him what's the most demanding task/program he uses .

We need more details on what he does with the PC, otherwise the spec could be way off what he needs.

For example: he might not even need a graphics card.

Does the spec need to include Windows, a monitor and mouse/keyboard?

Personally, I'd still avoid 13th-14th gen (in theory the final BIOS update to fix the problems has been released, but who knows), though if he's comfortable replacing the PC when the extended warranty runs out (5 years) and troubleshooting/RMA if he has a problem within that timeframe, then I suppose it doesn't matter.
