Im looking for a new pc Ive been speaking to customer service who will build me one the spec ive put together isbelow,

Ive spoke to Tammzy (big shout out) and they say can get other builds etc. my knowledge is out of date it must have good wifi 7/Antenna as I cannot hardwire my pc, this is for gaming and need it to last me for the next 4 years (as this one has) gaming at 1440p (and mid tower as desk it goes into is not huge) its been mentioned B850 mobo not sure if a top tier B850 is better than the entry x870?

Is this purely for gaming?

It's an excessive amount to spend for the performance level, you could save a small fortune and see no difference. You absolutely do not "need" WiFi7 purely for gaming either, it isn't adding anything other than improved potential download speeds.

Depends what you want, it's a good build. You could save a reasonable amount by changing some parts to go from top end to slightly-less-than-top-end

- You could save £40 on the 9850X3D and go for the 9800X3D, there's very little performance difference but then it's not a big price jump.
- The 9070XT is within 20% on average at 1440P compared to the Nvidia 5080 for half the price. If you play a lot of something like CoD it absolutely blows Nvidia away to the point it takes their £2000-3000 flagship Halo products to compete, the 5090 is actually slower than the 4090 in this particular instance.
- The extra L3 cache on X3D CPU's negates the concern for latency/speed with RAM, there's barely a few percent difference between 5600/c30 and 6000/c28, the cheapest 6000mhz 32gb kit will be fine.
- A gen 5 NvME offers you nothing in gaming over a much cheaper gen 4, spending £190 on a 1tb drive is not a good choice.
- Needlessly expensive case, but it's ultimately up to you what you go for.
- The Freezer III is a fantastic AiO, but it's also massively overkill as is the 360mm Thermalright AiO in the above, a good £30 air cooler is more than ample for the CPU in question.
- The RM1000X isn't a bad choice at £130, but it's also overkill. If I was going for a higher wattage PSU it would be the Asrock Steel Legend SL 1200W for another £20 over the Corsair.

What is the purpose of your upgrade? E.g. what's the general goal of improvements?

What kind of games do you play?

The reason I'm asking is that a 3080 Ti is roughly on the level of a 5070 or 9070 and people are still buying those parts new today for 1440p gaming.

Your CPU is a bit behind the times, but still very capable.

I don't think 3-4 more years would be unreasonable to expect from what you own.

I'd still throw down £20 for the Asrock 1200 PSU mentioned above tbh, the V2 Phanteks apparently has some iffy changes too.

Highly regarded in reviews, another £10 per 100W, no brainer for me if looking at the 1000W range currently.

I mean, there's still pointers toward a 5000 series refresh for Nvidia and it'll be at minimum two years out of date before the 6000 launch.

Plap time to buy unless you've a ton of cash to splurge and want a 5090, the 5000 series was barely any faster than the 4000 to start with and a refresh was largely going to be more VRAM.

I'm expecting a delay and potentially a rush out from a market crash by 2028, but that's going into other topics and is too much speculation on my end.

Suffice it to say, I've never been happier to have bought into a 5800X3D on AM4, because I'm sure as hell not spending my own money on any current DDR5 platforms.
