Morning guys
Just finished building a pc for my 12 year old for xmas and im a little worried its not going to be good enough for him so i want to put my spec forward and a few benchmark results for you cleaver folk to analyse and pull apart, basically i dont know if its any good, in my head it looked good but now i have ran 3dmark im worried and with xmas just round the corner im starting to think it aint gonna run how he wants it too.
Please can i have as much honest opinion as possible, bearing in mind im not made of money and i cant afford top end equipment.
i think the games he has in mind are things such as minecraft and fallout 4
MOTHERBOARD: MSI Z97 PC mate
CPU: Intel I7-4790 3.6Ghz
RAM: HyperX FURY 8GB (2x 4GB) DDR3 1866MHz
GPU: R9 280X 3GB DX 11 (Gigabite edition with windforce 3)
PRIMARY HDD: 240Gb sandisk ultra 2 SSD
PSU: Corsair CX 750W
COOLING: Corsair H55 Liquid cooler (noisy as hell, No pwm)
OS: Windows 10
i think he has it in his head hes gonna be running the latest games at 100fps and i know this wont be possible with the current gpu but hes 12 and doesnt understand!
i have ran 3dMARKS fire strike benchmark and got these results
3dMark score 7734
graphics score 8806
physics score 10234
combined score 3393
test 1 41fps
test 2 37fps
physics test 33fps
combined test 16fps
i have been out the pc game for a good ten years now so none of these results mean anything to me, im really really hoping some one here tells me the fire strike test is intentsionally set to really high standrads to really test peoples rigs and the above results are not what im gonna see when running games like fallout 4
Please help set my mind at ease guys because i really am losing sleep over this!!
cheers rich
ps tests performed with everything running at stock, no oc
