Err not quite like that.........;)

Currently got a desktop for browsing and gaming. Only play mmorpg's and rpg's.
Problem is the desktop is in the dining room taking up all the room (desk/monitor/shelf/drawers etc) and the wife wants to convert the room into a living/day room for our son with his friends, and family get to gethers etc.
We would be looking to wall mount a lcd/plasma in the room for a xbox or whatever in the future.

Question is....could i buy a laptop as a repacement for my desktop?

Would need the following:

Connect to the wall mounted tv for gaming/web browsing (is this possible?)
Largish screen for when not hooked up to above (16" ish)
Handle Mortal online/Dragons age etc.

Thanks guys

No real budget as such. Guess sellin my current setup would get me £600 ish.
More interested in the 'being able'.
Would i need a hdmi ready tv then to view the pc on a tv?

Thanks for the help btw

Well hdmi is the now most common connection to view it on the tv do yes. HD ready yes but HD ready is misleading as it's 720 where as to watch films in full HD you want a 1080i compliant tv.
