Plex and Dvd's

Hi Guys,

Got a mac mini coming so obviously want to rip the dvd's that i legally own into a format that plex can read.

any suggestions what app to use?

if i had say a series box set

for example father ted could i split out all the individual episode files?

Yep. With movies it'll pick the longest title which is the movie. With TV you can pick which ones you want to rip, there's an easier option in there that takes all the longer ones and gives them unique names for you to rename when they're done but I forget what it's called.

Either way it's the best thing for doing it.

also, it seems to be taking a lot of time to do rips?

rips are typically done in real time unless you create ISO images

I tried to rip my Sopranos DVD boxset for the same purpose..the amount of time it takes is

What format have you made them in? Have you got Plex Media Manager set up right?

There's a reason for it not working, and it is not '******* Macs'

Hi,

Noob mistake - i hadn't named the video files in the correct format.

i.e

Tv Shows > Father Ted > Series 2 > Father Ted S02E01.mp4

seems to be working fine this morning even got it going in full screen. took me about 4 hours to get my head round plex + vlc/handbrake last night.

You only need "Series name"SXXEXX and it detects and organises the rest if it is in a watched folder.
