ISSUE
Playback of H.265 content has micro-stutter (Looks like frame drops) on every Plex client apart from accessing via web browser.

Transcoding of media to H.264 media works absolute fine, but I am trying to resolve the H265 HVEC playback issue.

All clients Direct Play both audio and video. Server shows less than 10% CPU usage when delivering the H265 HVEC content.

I am at a loss because CPU usage is so low, so it can’t be a CPU bottleneck, nor a network bottleneck as the content is 1080p 4MBPS. It’s the HVEC X265 container that the server is struggling with. It’s like it’s missing a codec?

Maybe your missing the multimedia codecs?

You can install them:

sudo apt install ubuntu-restricted-extras

Thanks for this. I was going to try it but playback of H.265 content from the PLEX server onto my Chromebook works absolutely fine. It is only the XBOX and Android phone that is struggling
