So recently got into Plex for my movie collection and syncing to the new TV which is great. Recently had a Sky TV price hike which has prompted me to actually think about how much we use SKY. Overall, now with Netflix and on-demand we barely actually use it, so have looked into Plex TV as an alternative. My understanding is that I just need a tuner, such as Hauppauge WinTV-dual HD to plug into my LG B8 and then I should be fine? Anything else I've missed off to use this feature?

You need some kind of PC/Nas to run Plex Server on (and plug the TV tuner into) - it's not simply a case of plugging a TV tuner into your tv and downloading the Plex client App.

I have plex running off a computer. Ah so I plug it into the computer not TV, thanks for that.

Or you can get a HDHomerun network tuner that just plugs into the network and tv aerial, therefore meaning you don't need your plex server near the tv aerial outlet

Sadly I’ve found it not worth the effort, great in principle but I’ve found the whole system buggy and slow (Apple TV and Android clients).

Beat solution I’ve found is the BT Youview boxes from eBay. They give a good experience and are cheap.

Maybe Plex will get there one day but right now, I think they are a long way off.

**Removed, you can't suggest that here**

Plex is great, but we use it less and less as more stuff become available on-demand.

We have NowTV as one of our streaming providers. Never paid full price and it gives us what we want from the entertainment side.

My GF dad spends over 170£ a month on Sky and BB. Insane. I guess he likes football in all rooms?
