Hi all

quick question i am after a some advice on plex and synology after watching
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7HpqB-P85NM i am looking at using handbrake on my pc to transcode movies for playback on xbox one , so would be

movie file ->handbrake ->synology->xbox one-> tv playback

my question is this possible with something like DiskStation DS216j if i convert to a file format compatible with xbox one

any advice appreciated dont want to buy a high end nas when i am running a i7 gtx 980 pc

cheers

The whole point of Plex is that it does the transcoding for you. However, as you've noted, you're NAS isn't going to be up to the job.

What you're wanting to do is convert the movie file using Handbrake before putting it on your NAS. Transcoding is a conversion that's done on the fly. So what you need to find out is the format your XBone uses and use Handbrake to convert the file to that particular format.
