Hello, Im not into deep hardware understanding, I am going to study an engineering degree in software development and I need upgrade my good old thinkpad, I have a tight budget and I would like to know if a device with an AMD Ryzen 5 7535HS, RX 6550M 4gb vram and 16 gb ddr5 at 4800mh is good? I am worried A little bit about the graphics since I haven't heard people speak well of AMD's graphics, the heaviest thing I want to play is rdr2 or even maybe elden ring. I would like to know what you think about this device, websites and benchmarks mention that the RX 6550M is superior to the 3050 in portable format but I am skeptical about that. on the other hand I also have the option of an i5-13420H, rtx 2050 4gb vram and 16 gb ddr4 at 3200mh, which one should I buy. the diference of prices between the laptops is only about 50 dlls, the rtx 2050 device being the cheaper one at 550 dlls and the rx 6550M device at 600 dlls. this are the only options aviable in my zone that adjust to my budget, and i think i really would not want to build a desktop (even if its cheaper and have better specs) because i travel frecuently and i cant imagine myself without my laptop.

What about a thin and light with a Steam Deck for gaming?

I don't know much about laptops and mobile GPUs other than they vary so much and if a manufacturer specs say a mobile 4080 but lowers the TDP/wattage limits, a 4070 running at max wattage limits will be faster.

I'd suggest you look for reviews and I'm sure you'll find something but I'm still a bigger fan of using a Steam Deck for gaming over a laptop.

thank you, ive decided to not eat for the next two weeks or so and buy a device with i5 12450H and a rtx 3050 mobile, i wasnt secure about the amd graphics. The steam deck doesn't attract much attention to me either, since I also need the device to work on different programs and not exclusively games

Also the 3050 has DLSS that should help to bump up the frames in certain games so make sure you enable it.
