Pls spec me a gaming rig

I want to run games like Far Cry 2, Dragon Age and MW2 at 1920x1200 with high settings (they don't need to be the very best, but I don't want to miss out on texture details, shadows etc).

What's the cheapest rig I could get that would handle the above at a good frame rate?

That PC you've put would fall within it. Would it be sufficient to handle the things I wanted? Only thing I'd add is 2 x mirrored 1TB discs.

The graphics card is just fast enough for your resolution, with highish settings.

obviously if you can afford the extra £67, a 5850

Turbo Boost kicks in (plus integrated PCI-E controller). In the non-hyperthreaded applications it just had a little advantage over non-oced Core i7.

the main problem with intel now is, that we know the sockets are changing in a about a year, so unfortunately its a bit of a dead end.

yeah, shame really.

To rub it in even more, Intel are changing the 1156socket by just one pin too 1155.

Hopefully my rig will last me for at least 2-3 years before I upgrade the CPU (hence the mobo).

1156=>1155 - plain stupid

They had plenty of time to plan the future development, I wish these two sockets lasted as long as 775 did.
