Plug extension INTO extension...

Hey folks, I have never liked the idea of plugging an extension into another, effectively daisy chaining them, but I have a feeling it may be the only way I can solve a possible problem...

Our TV is mounted on the chimney breast with a soundbar underneath, and behind the soundbar, is a hole drilled through the chimney breast, which is where I have dropped the cables, into the fireplace area.

They then go to the left hand side at the bottom, and a small hole has been drilled - this works well as that is behind a cabinet, so no wires are seen.

In terms of power, there is a double plug socket behind the cabinet one is being used by the Consoles/etc everything in that cabinet, and the other, has an surge extension cable (2-way) which goes into the fireplace area, which is what the soundbar and TV plug into (the plugs sit inside a weatherproof box).

The new TV however, has a fixed power cable... 1.5M long, which I am not sure if that is going to be long enough to reach once its been fed inside the wall and dropped down, so I am trying to figure out the best way of doing this.

Option 1

Buy another surge protector 2-way socket, mount it behind TV and plug it into the existing 2-way socket in fireplace area.

Option 2

Buy a surge protector 2-way socket with a larger cable (say 6m) mount it behind TV then drop it down through fireplace and plug it into the double socket behind the cabinet, thus negating the need for the power adaptor inside the fireplace area.

Is there much of a muchness? I have never liked the idea of daisy-chaining, albeit the power draw on those items will be relatively low...

Zero issue plugging as many extensions as you want into each other. Why would there be. They will be rated to 13amp that's your limiting factor don't exceed that.

The whole 'don't daisy chain' is mostly for idiots who would plug in 8 fan heaters in to a single 13amp plug if left unattended, if you keep within the limits you're fine, especially if it's just some low power stuff like a tv.

Ah perfect, I do remember at my old job there were a fair few daisy chained adaptors under the desk for the users with computers / printers etc etc

Appreciate the advice though thank you, will just get another one and plug it in :) Thanks guys!

The cable is not separate from the TV, there are no removable parts of it, and the plug is the moulded plug type, its a brand new TV so don't fancy cutting the plug and giving the manufacturer any excuse to get out of any potential warranty claims etc
