Plug socket behind chimney for TV / Soundbar?

Hey folks, I recently had our chimney breast wallpapered, and in that time, we had the TV off the wall for it to be done.
Prior to the wallpapering, I simply ran some cable trunking down the side and painted the trunking ,it was visible but not overly obtrusive, however, now with the wallpaper I want to do it a bit neater.

I originally mounted a 2-way surge protector on the wall behind the TV (hidden) and fed the cable through the trunking (with the HDMI cables) and plugged it into it's own socket behind a cabinet, but now I think I can do it better...?

Anyhow, in the picture, you can see the hole drilled through, that drops directly down into the fireplace (not used) and to the left (out of the picture) the cable comes through an exit point, and then into the cabinet with all the console/sky box etc ( I will put a chrome cable entry faceplate to cover the hole :D)

Question is, do you think it is ok to simply put that 2 way surge protector in that fireplace area? Or will moisture affect it? I did think about buying one of those weatherproof boxes and putting a couple of silica bags inside them and having that house the plugs inside the chimney, is that a safe/ok option? I could use an outside plug socket but the TV has its own power 'brick' annoyingly so it wouldn't solve the issue of keeping that 'moisture-free'?

Easy done, build a small frame in the bottom and a floating shelf (I made it from the same wood as our floor so blends well) And have a power strip in here.
Wire one up beside the hole you've cut for passing cables thru for the TV

I also added a 2" or so drainage pipe on mine going from the hole you've made on the wall to the top of the new "hole" so that I could box it all in and seal it up to prevent any draughts

Good call... I decided to put a small shelf in there, and put the TV power supply & Soundbar power supply into a surge protector, which sits inside a weatherproof box... A bit OTT no doubt but even so!

I then wired 4 HDMI cables and 2 LAN cables through, and neatly made a hole which comes out behind the cabinet in the corner, totally hidden away.

All great? Yep... Except the new 5m HDMI cables I bought do not work with my Sky Q / XBOX ONE in 4K Mode!

Sent them back and got replacements coming tomorrow, same as the ones I already had that I know work, just longer versions (5m instead of 3m) should have just kept to the same brand in the first place! Hindsight eh!

Who knew HDMI cables could be so temperamental! It was only when I saw 'enhanced HDMI' was enabled on my TV (Sony 4K) that I realised it was the cables at fault, when I turned that off it worked, so changing the cables so I can keep using Enhanced HDMI!

Should say when you ordered the cable. At least they're not mega expensive monster cables (I hope:D)
