Plug socket switch - Turning itself on...?

Right,
I am asking this on behalf of Rachel in my office.

She has a double wall socket at home, which is reasonably new (about 15 years) which appears to be switching itself on...

It seems to happen on both of the switches on the socket.

Now the question is:- could there be any electrical/technical reason for this? Or does she need to take up our suggestion and get a priest in?

Dave, I had the opposite problem last year - a spring loaded light switch that would spring to off position. It meant that you had to hold the switch to on position and gaffer tape it down for it to stay on. It was basically time for a new switch and its replacement worked fine. Faulty switch was 18 years old. Prolly means a new one for Rachel.
