hi guys,

i have a normal linksys router which has say 8 pots on it. i was given a wireless linksys router which only has 4 on it so i can't replace the first one but i'd like to be able to use the wireless from the secnod router.

i was hoping i could just plug the wireless router up to the first router and away it goezs but that isn't working.

is there any way to get this to work?

thanks.

As long as you connect them by their switch ports, rather than using the WAN interface, and disable DHCP on one it'll all work.

yup

login to, one, change it's ip to 192.168.1.2 (default is usually 192.168.1.1) and disable DHCP (that's what gives out ip addresses) on that router

this one is now just a 'switch' don't use the WAN port on it obviously :)

just daisy chain it to the other router with normal network ports

Cheers for this, spurred me to try it with my BT Homehub and Netgear routers. Soon as I changed them to the same subnet it worked flawlessly. Now have 2 wireless access points at either end of the house and can even get an excellent signal in the garden. :D
