Ok in this house when we turn the cold tap on the pressure is so big that theres a huge noise which is hard to describe, kinda high pitched but its very LOUD we've lived with it for years does anyone know of any device or fitting that would stop it?

Water hammer. Pipes are vibrating.

Inspect pipe runs for loose sections, and clip them with naily clips or screw down ones.

Job done :)

Edit : or if its like a squeeking, then chances are its the ball valve on the tank, not opening properly. i imagine!

Pressure reducing valve would be one way but possibly might be something stuck in the pipe blocking the flow hence the higher pressure/noise from the system as the water is forced by. Might be a good idea to have a plumber look at the system and see if it is just pressure or something else causing it, as be for the best, as anything we come up with on here is only a good suggestion/guess.

Found out where it's coming from first. You'll be able to hear it everywhere as the pipes are carrying the sound, But try and find where it's loudest.

We get the same noise when turning on the kitchen cold tap and I've always wondered what it is.

Our noise seems to come from around the on/off knob (technical term!) on the tap itself.

I imagine you only get this noise when u half open the tap? when its open full bore it probably wont make so much noise.

Its because the flow is being restricted causing vibration i think. Its cos there is a lot of pressure trying to get through such a small area. Do your taps open fully?

I've seen anti-squeal devices to put on pipes, I guess it just goes inline somewhere. My folks old house used to have really loose pipes and they used to bang and rattle all the time. The pipes did.
