Hi Chaps,

We have bought a new home(new build) and it has a built in washer/drier. However we want to add a dishwasher as well. Now we checked countless times that there would be plumbing installed for a dishwasher (it was even an option in their option book which we were going to pay for but the site manager said plumbing for a dishwasher was already going to be there and that we shouldn't worry...)

Now, I have had a brief look at the under sink plumbing ( at least what is on show) and from what I can see there is only one cold fill?

What are those end/valve things that I have circled? I thought perhaps another cold fill tap could be connected there as it appears to come of the same pipe and both the cold and hot water fills have one next to it ( the one next to the hot fill is obscured but the same). To be honest thought it looks like the same valve as we have on the end of our radiator's!

They are just standard drain valves, you ideally need a 2nd ball valve as on the right or a dual adapter.

Adapter:

Thanks. Doesn't look like there is plumbing for a dishwasher then : /.

Could you replace the drain valve with a ball valve or is that completely wrong (I don't know a lot about plumbing!)

I guess there will only be one waste outlet as well. How do I get around that?

You can do, turn the water off, unsolder the drain valve and do a slight pipework mode and install a new ball valve.

The right hand drain valve - I assume that is connected to the ball valve, cant see properly as the drain pipe is in the way :p

Yes it is.

That soldering stuff sound a bit too technical! Perhaps the y splitter is the best option. Can both machines be used at the same time using that though?

Soldering is easy :p

You will be ok with a Y piece :)

Have they used gaffa tape to support that horizontal bit of pipe? Still, better than mine where they used nothing.

I would just put a T piece or Y splitter on the end of that existing cold pipe outlet.

do what i did

1) ask for 2 cold feeds
2) move in and find only 1 cold feed
3) moan to builder
4) day after two plumbers turn up and put a new cold feed on

profit ??!?!
