Hi,

for lack of a better word been shafted by plumber. Sitting here with no heating or running water and no professional help till Monday

Old suite is out, but its all old imperial pipe. Stuck some isolation valves on the 1/2in pipe (with the 5p trick) but the old bath tap pipe is 3/4.

Guy left his tools here so should have all i need, can't seem to get 3/4in isolation valves so how do i go about capping these or converting to 22mm?

Edit- ust like to say i would never normally touch someone elses tools, but desperate at the mo can see own breath in here!

Just buy a 22mm compression isolating valve and buy two 3/4" olives. Replace the 22mm olives with the 3/4" olives and job done :)

I was going to say that last time I really really needed a fix in a hurry, I found that a 22mm compression fitting will actually tighten down enough anyway. If you can get the 3/4 olives though it would be less likely to fail.

That is a leadloc mate, that is for 3/4" lead pipe which is much bigger. For lead pipe I think they measure the internal diameter and the pipe is usually quite thick.

Go down to your local plumbing shop, ask them for two 3/4" olives and a 22mm isolation valve. Ask them a cheap pipe cutter as well, something like http://www.wickes.co.uk/invt/500528 This one will adjust, so stick it over pipe tighten down and then turn it around the pipe, tighten a bit more and then turn again. Keep on doing this and the pipe will cut and you'll get a nice clean cut. Make sure though the pipe is round otherwise you will have issues.

He left you with no heating or water over the weekend? Yeeehaaaa ;)

My brand new CH install took 3 days, I had running water all days, was without heating for 1 day only. No water and no heating for the entire weekend is an utter ****take

I hope you're paying the cowboy in cattle or beans :p

Those compression fittings with olives are dead easy to use mate :)
