is anyone else getting throttled on plusnet during peak hours?

I thought they didn't do that

but apparently you have to pay an extra £5 for a service that you are already paying for. all I can do is laugh at how pathetic this is.

I am already paying £37 a month for their fibre optic package + phone line rental and now they want me to pay an extra £5 a month.

Is there any way I can go around this without paying them, I know with bt infinity all i had to do was use a VPN and I was able to get 38mb download speed.

FYI avoid plusnet like the plague if you are considering them Don't do it, i'm sure there is better providers out there just got to find it.

I'm with Plusnet and I've never had any problems. Just upgraded to fibre optic and I'm now on a 13Mb line, average 1.5MB speed. No complaints, and thats £17.99

yes, i have just seen they seem to throttle, only paying double for me will get no throttling!

i have Plusnet Extra Fibre, Unless i pay £5 extra a month It seems like i will be getting throttled. I just spoke to their customer service and he said that they throttle you to make it fair for everyone to be able to get a good connection all day ( i LOLED hard) when he said unless you pay £5 and get a better service.

one word describes plusnet right now - PATHETIC

As I said I've never had problems with plusnet, I'm on Extra Fibre too, I do all my big downloads overnight so I never notice throttle-age

hi Jay can you do me a favour and try to download somthing and let me know what speeds you are getting at peak times. sorry to be a bother just want to makes sure its just me.

the thing is I can't leave my pc on overnight my electricity bill is ridiculously high as it is.

I download movies almost every night and average about 500-700kbs, depends on the source of the download though. For stuff like mp3's and Microsoft software its around 1.5MB

yes they are one of the cheapest around but it comes at a price should have listened to the reviews and gone with eclipse or zen

I added the £5 thing onto my account for a week then took it off, still haven't been put back on the traffic shaping! My line only connects at 5700kbps though so not as fast as some of you guys.
