General consensus are that plus.net are absolutely useless, have a look round ADSLguide and you'll see why. Port throttling, accidently emailing customers details out to other customers, crap support .. the list is endless.

yea i'm with them currently i seem to have had the pleasure of sitting on a 512kb connection even though im connecting at around 4mbp-4.5mbp and its not because im still in the training period either
i'd probably look elsewhere instead of going with plusnet. also there owned by BT.

which package are you on?
i'm on the upto 8mbp premier option 1 package at £21.99 a month.
tbh i feel like changin to eclipse or something as plusnet speeds are pretty crap for torrents and suchlike even on off-peak

That might not be a good idea...

Weeeeelllllll.........

Plus.net are very hit and miss. My service was total rubbish for a few months towards the end of last year. But after a lot of moaning and bitching on their forums things have improved, and ive had no complaints recently.

I schedual my torrents during off-peak times and my speeds are always good then, depending on the amount of seeds obviously, but up to 700k for a well seeded file. But during peak times my torrents can be quite slow, usually around 60k. At the moment I have no complaints, but I would also consider moving if it wasnt for the termination fee.

I think the price is fairly competative and their restrictions on service are not as bad as many, peak times are only between 4pm and 12 and outwith those times you have pretty much a free reign on how much you download, within reason (which is about 150gb a month i think).

Overall for the most part im fairly happy, but then I havent been on the receiving end of their ****-ups...

Actually they are part of Pipex

I'm on the 8mb plus.

and to be honest its shocking for downloads

if you don't download go with them...

gaming it is amazing - constant 6-12 ping on uk servers.

but as soon as your over that download limit it all died.. internet speed is *****, other than that they have been okey....

i'm waiting for VM to get setup then poss transfer.

Another reason not to go with them:

http://www.thinkbroadband.com/news/2970-plusnet-warn-portal-users-of-security-issue.html

"It recently came to our attention that a potential security problem existed on our website discussion forums. It could have been possible to exploit the forum software, and retrieve an encrypted copy of the password details we hold for your account.

Also, PlusNet are not part of Pipex (see here, Pipex could end up owned by BT as well)

The speculation appears to stem from comments by Peter Dubens the chairman of Pipex, he is quoted as saying he was "reviewing the best way forward". It looks like some talks may have already taken place with the BT Group, who themselves in 2006 announced the acquisition of Plusnet. Only time will tell which companies are really interested in Pipex.

yea reason i said about BT owning Plusnet is because i got an email saying "your under the hands of BT now! but we're still plusnet..."
