Hi guys,

I was under the impression that it was PN's plan to migrate existing customers to ADSLMax or whatever it is called.

This has still not happened for me, despite being a PN customer since 1998.

Are they ever going to bother do you think? Has anyone else been moved? I'm still paying £23 a month for 512k!

You need to go on the website and actually request to be upgraded to ADSLMax as I found out after waiting for months.

Funnily enough though I was on 1Mb and ADSLMax trains at about 2Mb but guess what speeds I get........thats right 1Mb :(

I asked them back in April/May to get upgraded before they had lots of problems and put things on hold - I think they were planning to upgrade everyone before the snags, but changed to request only afterwards. Finally got upgraded to Max in October, and its been fine at 6Mb. As said, I think you'll need to log in to the customer part of their site and raise the appropriate support ticket.

How come you're only on 512k? I thought it was 'up to 2Mb' even without Max.

Do not upgrade, my ping has increased by thirty and the connection is unreliable now.

I only stay with plusnet as I can not speak to someone in India who is thick as **** and cant even speak English.

Watch the swearing IceUK.

Been with Plusnet for a few years now and never had a problem, was a mare cancelling with BT before though.

Got upgraded to 8MB and can sustain 800KB/s if downloading something from a fast server so no complaints from me. Can't say I've noticed an increase in ping at all either.

Jokester

Any increase in ping is probably interleaving getting switched on, or some change in routing that was coincidental with the regrade.

Fox, I was in the same situation as you, in fact check what happened when I queried exactly the same thing as you:

Hi,

Do I have to do anything with my account to be eligable for 8Mb broadband?

I\'m on Premier Option 1 at the moment. I don\'t want to lose any current functionality but am wondering how long it will take before I am able to get 8Mb speeds.

Many thanks

This customer was mailed the following message:
Subject: 'Important - broadband speed upgrade'

Your username: ****

Dear Adam,

Great news! We're delighted to announce that your broadband has been upgraded to give you 'Up to 8Mb' speeds.

About your broadband
---------------------------
High-speed 'Up to 8Mb' broadband works in a different way to your current service. The speed you actually receive is based on the length of your line from your local exchange, the condition of your telephone line and weather conditions. This means after we've upgraded your account, the actual speed you receive may vary.

Please note, due to the way the service works, we cannot guarantee a full 'Up to 8Mb' service.

What do I need to know?
---------------------
In the 10 days following your upgrade, you may see your speeds vary. This is perfectly normal, as automatic tests are carried out during this period to see what speed your line can support. It's important that you stay connected during this ten day period for as long as possible so that these tests can take place. After ten days you should see your speeds stabilise at the fastest speed your line can support.

Find out more about how your high-speed broadband service works by reading our guide now http://www.plus.net/features/highspeed.shtml

Thank you for your valued custom.
