Hi,

Can this be set to modem only mode? I've ordered fibre today and want to keep my existing router for the time being. (DSL-N55U) as you can set one of the LAN ports as a WAN port.

I am using pfsense when plusnet is set up.

The router they supply you don't need unless you want to use it.

Just look in the document they sent through for advanced router configuration. It shows put your router in pppoe mode and fill in the login password should work. If you have been using your router with another fiber supplier then it probably only needs the login password to be changed and a full reset of your fiber modem and router.

They supply the modem too. Eventually I'll replace this, but I just want to be up and running with my existing kit with zero hassle.

ok i see what you are saying, you have an adsl router/modem that you want to use with the fiber. If you can setup one of the lan ports as a wan port using pppoe then it will (should) work.

What were you using before plusnet fiber? fiber from another supplier or adsl?

If its a new fiber installation, i would probably recommend using their router until its working then try and set up your adsl using a lan port over pppoe.

What plusnet supplies currently is their standard ADSL modem/router where you can use the forth LAN port to connect to the VDSL modem you get when the BTOR engineer does his work in your property.

With what you currently have you have to make sure that one of the LAN ports also doubles as a WAN port so you can plug the VDSL modem into it, and you just have to replace the login details if you're moving from another ISP to plusnet.

Plusnet (still) don't have an integrated offering, so you will get an Openreach modem and a Technicolor thing. Which you can leave in the box.

Leave the plusnet router in the box when openrech install the modem just set the N55U LAN 1 port as WAN as a PPPoE connection. Your username and password for it are the same as what you use on their website.
