Plusnet increase line rental

I cancelled my BT today. The woman on the line tried to persuade me to stay so I told her to match the deal I can get with Plusnet. She couldn't so I cancelled.

I will be saving £10 a month for my broadband and at least £20 a month on calls with the unlimited call plan which is £5 a month.

You need to migrate, not cancel.

Migrated to BT, 40/10 unlimited FTTC for £10/month, £125 Sainsburys voucher+£157 TCB cashback. Means I'm paying net £8/month for broadband and line rental - will migrate away from BT after the 12 month contract is up and standard pricing kicks in. Only real worry is losing UK support.

BT is pant!

I suspect their customer service and BT forums are "pants" compared to Plusnet, but their products are OK and Plusnet couldn't match an effective £8/month for both line rental and fibre combined - I also only have a 12 month contract. I believe you are now tied to Plusnet for 2 years?

Yes but after 12 months Plusnet will rise line rental and call charge increase so they can cancel the contract without early termination fee, so I wouldn't worry too much over 24 months locked! As every years all ISP's will going to rise line rental cost anyway.

:D

I received an Email telling me about the price rise for the line rental. It went on to state that I had to contact them within 30 days if I wanted to leave. So that is what I did.

We want to make sure you get the best deal for you. So, if you want to change something, or even leave because of these price changes, and you're within your minimum contract period, you'll need to call us within 30 days of receiving this email to avoid paying a charge for leaving early. You'll need to give us 30 days' notice to leave (or 14 days if you're switching provider), starting from the date you ask us. We won't charge you the increased price during that time.
