Trying to connect to the PlusNet (Netgear DG834GT) and it won't work. The router will show that it has a connection but no internet activity will work (IE, MSN etc.) I've tried pinging www.gooogle.com and it got nowhere.
No settings have been changed on any of the computers or the router since it last worked yesterday). I've used the MSN troubleshooter and it reported a DNS error, and my PSP's browser has too reported "A DNS error has occured (80410410).
I've tried multiple reboots of the router and the conecting computes and it still won't work, so I'm guessing that it's an error at PlusNet's end.

And now during the multiple reboots the DG834GT has lost all connection with PlusNet and is "Disconnected, LCP is allowed to come up".

I'm typing this from dialup :o and I've read http://www.plus.net/supportpages.html?a=2&support_action=messages&ispservice_id=adsldial , is this why my connection is dead?

Any ideas welcomed!

Well this is actually the first trouble I've had (this year)

Speed is fine in the mornings up until about 6pm. I know that peak time usage can affect and slow it down a bit but it gets to points in the evenings when i cannot even browse on the internet without the pages and images taking ages to load up and this is supposed to be on an up to 8mb service. I was quicker on my old 56k modem sometimes.

Whenever I raise a ticket with them I just get sent to do the "broadband fault checker" stuff. useless.

The router has now reconnected to Plusnet but internet activity still doesn't work!

Live Messenger's troubleshooter has passed all the tests apart from DNS & Key Ports, so something is up with the DNS. I take it this is something I can't fix myself?

I've just tried tracert of both www.google.com and www.plus.net and both of these have had the error of Unable to resolve target system name www.plus.net (or www.google.com)

So this DNS error, can I do anything about it (& can I try pinging / tracert websites IP addresses instead?)

Just tried running Tracert on multiple IP's (BBC & My Webspace) and they both came back as below.

They both worked on the first two hops (#1 being 192.168.0.1 - my router) and #2 being 195.166.128.123. They both failed on hop 3 and beyond.

I'm on Stage 15 of the PlusNet broadband fault checker and it wants me to change my connection details to some BT test ones, but I'm loathed to do that :p

Someone must have some ideas, as this dialup machine running 98 sucks, is slow, and I want to talk to some people on Skype & MSN on other computers on the home network!
