Had some work done on the house last week, which resulted in the power being turned off at times before work commenced and since then the line rate has dropped drastically.

Line rate currently stands at (kbit/s) 58021 down and 11993 up. Originally it was 79999 down and 20000 up when installed on the 22nd Dec.

I'm on plusnet upto 38mb and have queried this with them but as its "in range" of the product they seem reluctant to do anything. If I upgraded to 80/20 they would raise a fault. I'm reluctant to do this at the min as we got the 6 months free offer.

The BT wholesale checker shows the IP profile at 54.68Mbps down and 20Mbps up. ping can be anything from 35 to 62ms depending.

Is this DLM? Does the system think there is an error on the line due to the loss of power here and there over a few days? will it gradually increase back to the original 79999/20000? How long would it take?

Never had issues with Sky or TalkTalk since having fibre installed the stats have always been great.

Attainable rate (kbit/s) 100252 27783
SNR margin (dB) 12.6 15.8
Line attenuation (dB) 0 0
Output power (dBmV) 12.5 -11.3
No listed errors.

Any info appreciated, thanks.

DLM can take a while to get everything back to normal. It took over a month of gradual improvements to my connection back to normal after a line fault last November.

It's worth power cycling the router and modem. It isn't something you should be doing on a regular basis, but it's worth a one off try.

Here's DLM in action (upload). The recent trough was fixed with a power cycle.

Don't power cycle the modem, just the router!
If you must turn off the modem make sure you don't turn it on again for 30mins or DLM will act. You've already been hit by it, SNR is up and interleaving has added latency as DLM thinks your connection was unstable due to the random switching off of the modem.

With the graph above router restarts made no difference. I tried on several different days and nothing happened.

I power cycled the modem (off for about 2 minutes) and that fixed the problem. It didn't retrigger DLM.

Thanks for the info. Ill just keep watch then.

I'm surprised that DLM has kicked in, I had some electrical work done about 14 months ago and power went off/on for a number of days without noticing any drops.

Maybe the power was off/on more times than I remember.

Whats the time span of the increase on your graph?
