anyone had their Plusnet Fibre speeds slowed down ?

I used to be getting 8-9 Mb/s download speeds

connecting at 80-90 Mbps

last few months , I've just signed into my account , now its gone to around 48 Mbps

i will be calling them

When i look at what packages are available

looks like they have "moved" me over to the slower one

Not sure what modem/router you have but have a Google around to see how to find your sync speed/line speed on your particular device. This will ultimately still not prove whether you whether you've been "moved" (does this actually happen?), but it'll prove that it isn't simply a contention issue.

:edit: oh I misread, so you you see a lower estimated speed in your account. Do you experience any actual slow down in speed...? If not, I imagine they've simply changed their predicted speed for you based on data in your area. If you'd have been moved over to the lower package I would expect it to be renamed to Unlimited Fibre as opposed to Unlimited Fibre Extra, and be limited to 40mbps maximum estimated speed.

What do the line stats in your router show is the maximum sync rate?

My line drops from 80Mbps to 70Mbps depending on whether my neighbour has an FTTC service activated or not, I guess the crosstalk from the line in the same bundle is quite severe over the ~170m that they run right next to each other for.

I'm not sure
I'll have too look at this

Did a speed test on router

55 down
18 up

I contacted PlusNet earlier this week to ask them to do a reset on my line because it had dropped from syncing at 19.9/74 to 19.9/67 over a period of time and I was only getting around 55 throughput instead of the original 72. I asked them to reset the line so it could go through the learning process again. I have a lot of RF in my shack at times and occasionally it's caused the internet to blip.

They sent someone out to check and he didn't find any fault with the line but he replaced my socket and did the reset so I'm now getting the expected speed again and the router is synced at the fastest I've ever seen. I expect it to drop back down a bit over the next fortnight but this is a good start.

Best place to raise issues is on the plusnet forums - there are technical experts on there who actually pick up queries. Sometimes things they can't even answer on the telephone.

Well that’s interesting. The learning is kicking in and my connected speed has changed from 78.435 as above on Friday to 78.993 now.

I expected it to decrease, not increase but thinking about it, when the Openreach man did his test, he said my line could do 85 “but your service is 80/20” so perhaps it’ll actually end up close to the full 80.

Speed increasing during training is normal, new lines have a fairly high signal to noise ratio (snr) set, if the line is quiet it reduces the snr which allows a higher sync.

Training is complete, my current profile is "0.128M-80M Downstream, Retransmission Low - 0.128M-20M Upstream, Error Protection Off" which PlusNet describe as being as good as it can get.
