Plusnet webspace bandwidth

Hi guys,

Is it just me or does this seem really stingy?

I whacked a few photos on my webspace for a post in Motors yesterday and I've now had all my webspace deleted (It's archived) for going over my bandwidth allowance. To get it back, I have to send them an email explaining why I went over my allowance and what I'm going to do to make sure it doesn't happen again.

All sounds very strange, but I guess if I've shifted a couple of gigs of files then its fair enough, albeit rather suprising for 6 photos.

So I check the allowance..

On my paid for broadband account (I pay about 23 quid a month for a paltry 1mbit connection so its far from a bargain) which I've had for many years I get..

250mb a day webspace bandwidth

To me this seems so low I might as well not bother. It also INCLUDES transfer by me to and from the webspace?

Is this par for the course or are they taking the mick?

A daily bandwidth limit does seem a bit stingy, considering it'll probably get a lot of hits for a day or two, then nothing for yonks. But then it's better than nothing, which is what you get in the way of free webspace from most ISP's nowadays.

Personally i dont consider it free webspace as I pay £23 a month and I could get just an internet connection for rather a lot less..

7.5gb a month, not TOO bad for ISP provided hosting just that they do it on a daily basis which is retarded.

For 9.99 a month you can buy servers with unlimited bandwidth with 100mbit pipes to them so I would certainly not be paying your ISP if its an 'extra'

they shouldn't include your transfers in the allowance either. don't they have an FTP option. surely that wouldn't count against web traffic?

Plusnet are pathetic and not nearly as good as they used to be. Im glad we arent with them any more.

+1

I wont even go into how after creating and deleting 2 email account on their email server how 2 years after I left them those addresses starting getting spammed after they lost their email database to hackers..... this is also 2 years after I showed them how an SQL injection on their website would give me access to anyones account too.

They are the biggest joke ISP going.

Its not bad for "free" tacked onto an internet connection tbh...

When I posted some screenshots on here in the gaming forum high quality screenshot thread and got through around 5gig on each of them in a couple of days :S

Left plusnet this year for O2, Plusnet have gone downhill terribly...get yourself out of a contract with them and purchase extra webspace from elsewhere if necessary.

Are -net still in business ?

TBH never had any issues with the webspace apart from the horrendous SQL servers

Leave them asap is my advice

Doesn't surprise me plusnet always seem to be dodgy. My mums with them and her "upto 8mb" conn used to sync at the standard 512/256 until one day she was given a free 8mb upgrade ???

For £23 I would go elsewhere and put the money saved towards some web space/hosting

£23 for Plusnet? Jesus  I didn't know a budget ISP could still command that sort of price!

I'm still on it because I'm on an old account which has old terms and conditions meaning my 'peak hours' where the 15gb allowance applies are much smaller than normal.

Does it sound like I can get a better deal elsewhere?

Assuming you can get it, be/o2 are great for the price. Be offer a value package for 13.50 which should be a lot better than plus net. I you are an o2 customer you can it cheaper still.
