Hi
Im thinking of setting up a raid array with two 10000 raptor HD but am unsure about about a fews things.

my specs are
mobo = GA-p35-dq6
cpu= q6600
Gpu =BFG 8800GTX
hardrives two raptor= 10000 rpm
1 dvd drive
no floppy drive

Do i need a floppy disk drive to install the raid controller is there any other way that this can be done ?

Does anyone have a good guide on this please post link ?

Also is it possible to have a totally sepertae HD for storage that is not in RAid 0 ?

Thx :)

You can slipstream the RAID drivers in to a windows CD using this program:

http://www.nliteos.com/download.html

I did it with winxp for my old mobo with a Intel ICH5R RAID controller.

Also, yes you can have a seperate hdd not in raid. Either connect it to a different controller, or use the same controller if you have enough SATA ports - when setting up RAID 0 just dont select the HDD you want for storage, or unplug it untill you have setup the array and installed windows.
*thx for reply *

I already have xp on one of the raptors so if i reformat them connect the second raptor and go into bios and config the raid controller and then install the os am i missing somthing?

Also do you have a guide on how to install xp on a raid 0 array ?

thx

You need to format your drive with OS on it, enable the RAID bios in your motherboards BIOS, load the RAID bios when prompted (I think your mobo has Intel controller) so press Ctrl + I (I think), then follow the instructions. Then install XP as normal (the array appears as 1 single hard drive).

If you want a guide google..
okay one last question where does the floppy disk come into it ?

thx
