Why do you want a messaging system? Are you going to try coming on to me? It won't work you know.

Aside from the increased traffic (less of a problem with the new server) I think the argument has been advanced that it would make it even easier to advise of competitors and be almost impossible to police. Both of which are true although not really that much harder to simply email someone a competitor link if you wanted.

I doubt you'll get PMs enabled here though, the forums have got by for 6 odd years without them so I can't imagine that will change soon. :)
 
They dont' use it, i would have thought why - The Admins have enough work with the forums without the pms from the noobs. Also the amount of abuse issues they will prob get from PMs between the kid like members.

In the end of the day, this forum is better without PMS, trust is there for a reason..
 
If you click on the users name it takes you to their profile.

Look at the page source, there's a bit of HTML down there that starts http://forums.overclockers.co.uk/member.php?u=###&privm=new (where ### is the users id number).

Just copy and paste that into your browser address bar and it brings up the PM page. I think the mods/dons use it, but it is available to us 'normal' members, just a bit awkward.
 
It'd be like passing notes in class, and everybody knows that would be very naughty. We'd have to get a naughty corner installed.
