PNG black background issues

Hi, i hope this is the correct place for this post...

when i drag a png image from the webrowser, or anywhere infact, into illustrator, photoshop, even ms paint, the background goes black and looses the shadowing. Ive had no problem with it before, just started up now, any ideas?

Only way around it I know is to save down the file rather than copy. If you copy it then I believe your browser fills in the alpha channel, effectively removing the transparency.

Yup, save to desktop and then open from there. As gord, Im not aware of a work around.
