Hello all
Just wanted to warn you all of an epic fail I recently encountered when buying my 660ti. It arrived, and when I got it I span the fan manually and it was making an awful whining sound.

After about 2-3 minutes a friend notices there appears to be a sticker inside touching the fan slightly, which was probably what was making the noise.

At this point, we decided to open the card up and have a look inside - This is what we found.

(This is the sticker, the peely bit hadn't even been peeled off. That was just a loose sticker. INSIDE the card.)

Good news everyone!

Just got the following email from PNY support after I emailed them about being slightly miffed.
Dear Kevin, I’m really sorry to hear that you’ve had troubles with one of our products. The issue you’re describing below has been discovered in our warehouse in the same way : we plugged one test sample and heard a strange noise. We found out that the serial sticker (the sticker you found) which helps us track our production batcheswas systematically slipping into the fan blades and was endangering the products. We have corrected this issue since, but some units had already left our warehouses to distributors / etailers / retailers before we had a chance to apply the changes.Still, if your graphics doesn’t work properly, please tell me and we’ll arrange a RMA.I totally understand your feelings about our products, and unfortunately I won’t be
able to fix this. My main goal today is to give you an explanation on the problem you’ve
had and, to assure you that it has been fixed since.Now, can you please tell me if you’ve bought a standard board or a Christmas bundle one ?
In case you didn’t bought a bundle, just let me know and send me your email adress,
I’ll send you an Assassin’s Creed 3 and Borderlands 2 game vouchers. I know it won’t change the world,
but if it can compensate a little bit the troubles you’ve had, this will be at least a start.I wish you a nice day,

So I now have a free copy of AC3 and Borderlands 2 for reporting the issue! So yeah, PNY are not as bad as they first seemed.

Yeah! I was impressed too. The fact they were so honest with me about the situation was so damn refreshing. It's not often you will talk to a CS droid and get a honest frank answer. And hey free games!
 
nice result there! My gtx 680 is a pny card and its good to know their service seems pretty good from what im reading here.
