Received my router and activation date letter (active since 18th Dec), plugged everything in correctly (got green lights etc on router) but my PC doesn't seem to be happy.
The network indicatior icon in the system tray says "Limited or no connectivity" when I plug the ethernet cable in, and although an ipconfig says I have an IP address, bugger all happens when I launch IE. I ran the setup CD and it gets to a point saying "you're not quite ready to go online yet" having checked the connection.
I phoned Sky customer services who were useless (Indian would you believe), it took them about 15 mins to understand my phone number, asked me to plug everything in again then gave up saying it must be the network card in my PC.
I checked the TCP/IP settings and "automatically detect settings" is ticked for IP and DNS settings, is this right? My PC has been offline for about 7 months but in my last house was on a network with a static IP (these settings have now been removed since I ticked "automatically detect settings". Does anyone know the settings/numbers I need for this section, or does my problem lie elsewhere?
The one useful thing Sky told me was that I needed 192.168.0.1 as the Default Gateway, but I can't ping it and I don't know where to go from here, help!
PS. Merry Christmas
