Hi there.

Im not really into poetry but as part of my English Lit AS course i have to write a poem, im not stuck for ideas on what to do it on, but i was wondering what makes a good poem for you lot?

Not really a fun thread i know :p

Do about war,

Older war poems were really long and all about memory. They're kinda of neo-romantic aswell. They make heroes of those who went off warmongering.

Newer war poems have much shorter prose, usually concentrate on the unknown soldier and the carnage of war.

If you're lazy just copy some song lyrics from a really obscure band :p

Or if you're being fancy, put it in German.

Sie ist die hellste stern von allen!
Vier!
Heir kommt die sonne.

Hehe, sorry, just loving the song atm :D

My favourite from memory as a child.

The Backwards Rhyme - Author Unknown

One bright day in the middle of the night
Two dead boys got up to fight
Back to back they faced each other
Drew their swords and shot each other

A deaf policeman heard the noise
Came and shot the two dead boys
Now if you don't believe this lie is true
Ask the blind man, he saw it too.
