POF.COM - Sometimes BT Is Blocking This Site.

I thought i would ask the good folks of this forum regarding my problem. BT are baffled and they tell me they are not filtering any sites.

The blocking is happening on my laptop and my mobile phone when connected to my BT router. So its not laptop related. If i connect my laptop to my mobile phones network, it loads this site instantly, so its all pointing at my BT connection.

I got BT fibre installed a week ago. Most of the time pof.com does not work, sometimes it did work. The strange this was that i could still access adult sites and other dating sites. I activated parental controls and set it to mild filtering, i set a rule to unblock this site, this seemed to work but at the same time blocked a lot of other sites i use, so i then disabled the parental controls. Yesterday i phoned BT twice and they dont seem to have a clue about what it could be and 'refreshed' the line, i dont know if that is a real thing or just to get me off the phone. I restarted my router using the hub manager and then the site worked. Roughly 24 hours later the site is not working again. So i restarted the router and the site is working again.

So chaps can any of you offer some help on this one. Many thanks

Next time it doesn't load for you, see if you can ping it - does it respond? If not, do a traceroute and post here.

It might be the site is temporarily or permanently blocking a range of BT address due to abuse or something - restarting router can get you onto a different range though a bit strange if it keeps happening.

When it does not load, i get the same problem on my phone with it timing out. So do i need to do the ping only when i cant reach it? Its currently working but i did the ping and traceroute for practice. I had to search how to do it.

Yes do a ping and traceroute when it doesn't load, as may help identify where it is stopping.

yes im aware there are many bad things about this website and especially the way they ban people for no reason. I also use match, its a better website but it does not make it easier to find a woman. Badoo is ok too but its a rip off, you need to buy and use these credits just to send a message. Is there a better alternative for a free site which does have the biggest selection of active members?

Get out there with hobbies and social events, meet people rather than read about them. That said I met the majority of my past flames and current wife in a club. Was fun getting there to be honest.

Yes i agree and i would love the opportunity to do what you do. Im 47 and my clubbing days are long gone. Im all for going to the pubs but whats the point if they are full of the younger crowd.

Ha, im 40 now myself, there are clubs out there that would have a slightly older clientele, I guess its a case of trial and error until you find somewhere you are comfortable and has a decent mix of people.

Yes, my life has changed for the better in recent months, i was living in Scotland and unemployed for over a year. I sold my house in April, came to England and stayed in hotels while looking for work, i now have a cracking job contracting at Rolls Royce in Coventry, I now work weekends fri sat and sun, im well paid for doing so. So going out at the weekend is not an option. Also i dont have anyone to go out with, i dont have anyone here. So i need a chic, thus the dating sites

Hey guys, its been working all week but just today the site stopped working for me. I done a traceroute or the site, the results are below. After i did the tests i restarted the router and i can access the site immediately. Any ideas what is wrong? cheers

Talk with BT, random people off the internet can't help with their routing issues.

Is that what is causing the problem? Is there anything they can do to sort my individual problem? I have already spoke to their so called tech experts. One chap could access the site from his laptop so he said the site works fine.

The packets are getting to the BT network then getting lost so its a problem only they can deal with. Unfortunately depending on the origin of packets it might work for the person on the phone and not you, you might struggle to get them resolve it but it should go away in time as such errors are usually short lived.
