While the Walking Dead was a brilliant game, I don't think I'd consider it a proper adventure game as there aren't really any puzzles.
I'd recommend The Book of Unwritten Tales and the sequel, and Deponia and its sequel too. I wouldn't put either of them up there with classics like Monkey Island but they're lighthearted fun with some good humour thrown in. TBOUT was a bit easy, but I still enjoyed it.
I actually thought the Tales of Monkey Island were brilliant but I also thought Escape from Monkey Island was good too, so I might just be a bit biased towards Guybrush.
