Loom
Monkey Island 1 - The Secret Of Monkey Island
Monkey Island 2 - LeChuck's Revenge
Monkey Island 3 - The Curse Of Monkey Island

And to a lesser extent (nowhere near as good as the first two), the Tales of Monkey Island series of 5 games.

yeah most of the lucas arts point and clicks were great. Grim Fandango was my personal favourite and still one of my favourite games to date.

I think if you are looking for a newer game you may need to go the indie route. I have seen lots of really interesting games but so far have not bought one yet.

Big publishers don't really do point and click games anymore right?

Both Machinarium & Dreamfall are great recent(ish) ones.
Ceville was very well recieved although I've yet to play it myself.
I enjoyed A Vampyre Story although some of the voice acting is ropey.

Day of the Tenticle is by far the best. Another of the lucasarts games, as mentioned any of those are great :)
