Friend of mine has a dslr and is looking something small to throw into her pocket/bag when she's just out and about in town etc.. Had said she could maybe pick up a rx100 for slightly over that but she'd prefer if she could find something within budget. Any ideas what she could look at around that budget?

Used rx100 IMO, nothing else would come close.

How did you know she had an iphone?

Funny she's due an upgrade soon and I was saying that the pics she takes with her current iphone were pretty decent so the newer ones are likely even better. I think her problem there is she got what must have been the base model at the time (8gb) and has pretty much ran out of space so I dunno if that's why she wants a separate camera. Will suggest it again though if it's going to be on par with anything around that price.

Used Sony RX100 mk1 @ £161.00 from Wex. Nothing comes close for that price. Forget the mobile.

I picked up my RX100 ii for a tenner over that. Plenty going on the Bay but you just need to be lucky on one. The ii adds wifi and few other bits and bobs.
