Pointless getting 8800***!! What games?!

You're wasting your time. None of the 8800 owners want to believe that they wasted their money, regardless whether they did or didn't.

All that will happen is you'll get called jealous and a troll.

They also all seem to know how much money you have, apparently if you don't buy G80 it's clearly because you can't afford it.

It's easier to just pity them for wasting their money. They're ruining it for everyone else too, whilst they keep blowing £££ into nVidia's coffers, the prices will keep going up.

Makes you wonder how expensive the G80 would have to be before common sense kicked in.

I did wonder that myself actually. Would ANY price be too high for some people? Of course people would say yes, but I somehow can't help but think that if this card was £1000 then we'd still have many of the same people sticking up for it and using the same arguments. Maybe... ;)

Reason i got my 8800gtx was i have 24" widescreen and only payed £200 for the upgrade from a 7950gx2,its DX10 ready as vista supports it.

No you are wasting everyones time.

The fact is if no one bought top end cards then the development of faster GPU's would dry up.

So you stating

Clearly shows how little you know about the GFX card sector.

Why are you so angry?
Cause we have something you do not?

I really do not understand why you are so bothered about it?
Do you care that people spend £700 on conroe extreme editions cpu's?

You are priceless.

LMAO :D

WHAT ????

I just can't comprehend why on earth there are so many people that are moaning about why others wish to own this card, WHY? I've never seen this before on a graphics card release, ok we've always had the odd moaner but never to this volume, EVER, and I’ve been avidly following graphics card releases since the voodoo1, now since then every time a new graphics card is released everyone is interested to see how it performs, if it performs well then usually most commend the card and it becomes an object of desire,

Then another card comes out that runs faster and then that becomes that next best thing and so on and so forth, I mean you can't condemn someone for wanting something that performs better than another card in your chosen field of entertainment, so why is this so different than any other graphics card release? Could someone explain that to me please, this card cost me £500 yes, but it really has taken my gaming experience on the pc to a whole new level.

You see, whats confuseing me is that for years everyones allways wanted a really fast graphics card (I mean who does'nt honestly want their games to run very smoothly) and there have been many times when even owning the fasted graphics card and cpu etc, their system would still not be able to handle new game releases at maxium detail settings, I know this because on a few occasations I have owned pretty much the fasted systems out over the years and have been very disapointed that they could not run these new games at a very smooth frame rates maxed out, and I'd like to point out that most of these past systems cost well over a thousand pounds,

Today you can have the following from OcUk for example :D ,

Thats 1400 pounds for an emense system that will play ANY GAME currently out @ very smooth frame rates maxed out in every aspect and that's running them on a 22" widescreen @ a respectable 1680x1050, now I've paid this amount of money for system builds in the past and more, and never have I had a system like my current one that could run games that are avalible @ the time of the system build as well as mine does, and never have I got such good value for money, remember it was only a decade ago it would nearly cost you a couple of grand for a top of the range office pc.

yet still we have people on here moaning that it's not worth it

lol, so it's got nothing to do with the fact Nvidia have THE FASTEST card available at the moment which supposedly offers the best IQ aswell? The only reason it's price is high is because people are buying it...
The benchmarks pretty much speak for themselves, if you are playing at high resolutions and want max AA/AF then there's only really one card to go for.

This is something I don't understand... a lot of people say the GX2 isn't upto much and a lot of benchmarks show it behind a 7900 GTX SLI... but this simply isn't the performance I've seen from my card - out the box it does about 10940 in 3D Marks 06 and I've managed 16K out of it with over clocking... probably that it does 700MHz core on 1.25v (gainward runs them at 1.25 instead of 1.3 for some reason) says a lot... with voltmodding (1.5 is easy) and better cooling it could hopefully do 750 or even 800...

On my 6600 running at 3.6G the out of the box performance of my Inno3D GX2 was just over 8K with 10K overclocked. 10,940 Stock and 16K Overclocked on 3D mark 06 errrrrrr, ummmmmm, lol. I think you have got that a tad wrong my friend. Either that or your running some 10Gig Quadcore monster. I'm assuming you mean 05?

LOL, typical replies from the G80 crew.

This thread is a delight to read, what a joke some of the replies are! :D

back to the OP, anyone with a 24" or greater monitor can see the benefit of the 8800 series straight away.

definitely a wind up thread :D

Wanna bet? ;)

I tell you... This is a really bad thread. People are having a go at others for buying a brand new card.. This card offers more new features and more raw power than any other past graphics card release from probally the 3DFX.

With the 8800GTX you get something nearly twice as fast as ATIs flagship card (is this what is annoying you all?), 128bit HDR with fp32 HDR previously being all that was possible, 16xQ which is a new kind of anti aliasing that can be used in syncronisity with 128bit HDR, fantastic IQ which is not matched by any other card on the market.

This truely is a fantastic card and for £500 you're getting one of the best value first release cards ever. Yeah some people won't want to buy them on release because they will drop in price but some people will... And I for one can totally see why. :)

(I'm running a 7600GT and a 9200SE btw.)

EDIT: And DX10 support obviously.

it was a joke as i was saying he said "the look of the card is nicer" .. and i said if you really care about the "look" of the card then thats silly... and the word silly kind of suggested it wasnt serious
