You're money, you do what you want with it. Hell, buy an 8800GTX and smash it up its your product/money you do what you want with it.

Like those guys on the web did with that PS3 - raised money for two PS3s on their website, then smashed one of them in front of a queue of people waiting to buy them  , and filmed their reactions. :D

Although they could have just tried to set it up and got frustrated...

Well, at the moment there is no games which need the 8800*** cards to view them in full graphical glory. So im just saying why do people get them as they could have waited for a game like crysis to come out then get them for a fraction of the price.

Oh dear what have you started. :(

Theres loads of games out for em anyway, ive got about a million here that im playing on my x1800.

I bet you've got a stack of games there as well that your playing, so you see there is games for em, has been for years.

I nearly ordered an 8800GTX Yesterday but You know what
a. It's no faster than My 1950XTX Crossfire

b. this whole DX10 thing and the lack of Nvidia drvs for Vista worries me ( why no drivers if it was developed for DX10 ?

c. the Card is to big and runs too hot

any review or benchies to prove this. a crossfire setup will consume more power than the 8800 and be more hot

If your buying the high-end next gen card on day of release you ARE being ripped off by a fair margin, the big money on these is purely because they can and helps claw back some of the R+D costs. Considering within 2 months the price will drop. This is the price of being at the very bleeding edge -
In short - early adopters do everyone else a favour, it's a little bit of willy waving but certainly not something to be attacking them over on the forums.

Not really.

Its cheaper for to to get the latest gfx cards selling on previous gen a few weeks before release.

That way I have the latest tech for little outlay.

If you time it right you can have the latest tech for less than you think.

In my experience I have found it cheaper to buy on release and sell just before release. It's cost me less than £100 to upgrade to a 8800GTX from the sale of my 7900 GTO's. Its also easier to sell your old kit doing it this way.

Absolutely,

7800 GT
7900 GT
7900GTX
7950 GX2
8800 GTX

have all cost around 100 quid to get between refresh for me.

Works out about £20 odd a month to have the fastest cards.

I'll do the same a few weeks before R600 or the NV refresh.

Selling my 8800 at the right time maybe losiing 50 odd quid on it and moving on to the next gen cards.

I mean I lost 50 quid on my GX2 lol and had it over 3 months!

Thats the fun of having the top end stuff! :D

You have to be megga sharp to do this..I must have lost about £1000 on CPU's and GFX cards this Year !!

Sure I'm not bitching a lot of people put more than £20 down the Carsey every friday night

Only 2 things have impressed me this Year
a. Intel core duo
b. X1950XTX Crossfire

Funny my x1800 cuts through everything maxed out at 1280x1024.

No ones buying the G80 for Dx10, they are buying it for Dx9, faster Dx9, its a single card that is faster than Sli/Crossfire, who on earth is buying a G80 for Dx10 when its not released till the end of Jan, and with no games to go with it, theres only FSX thats out now that can use Dx10, and looks identical to what it does in Dx9, as will all Dx10 games as they can also be played on Dx9 cards with XP, its about time everyone realised that Dx10 is not a graphical change, its more efficient Dx9, allowing more objects on screen etc... as it takes some load of your CPU, thats all it is ppl. :D

Look heres Crysis in Dx9, and Dx10 here , see no sodding diff (apart from the yellow tinge effect), the **** effect as i call it (rhymes with miss), and someones even been kind enough to add it to the Dx9 shot, as i said its more objects on screen etc... thats all, graphics will not uber change, when its on a Dx10 card you will not say 'hang on never seen that game before what is it', as you know what it is as its the bloody same!!!, just Dx10 allows it to run better and have more objects on screen. :D

And modest to boot ;)

No the Guy is very switched on....I saw on another thread Him reccomending Buying the Products with Life warrenty's as being the best resellers. :)

Personally when I have decided to buy anything I like to think of it as an investment to Keep forever, I now realise the temporary rental approach is by far the best way.. :D
