Pointless?

Just been on Gamespots website looking at the 'Grudge Match' for the 1950XTX vs 7900GTX. Am I the only person who thinks this review is completely pointless? I thought that the 1950XTX was ATI's answer to the 7950 GX2 so why compare the 1950 against a card that's almost over a year old? Also I'm pretty sure that Gamespot reviewed the 7900GTX against the X1900XTX when that was released. Surely they should be comparing it against the 7950 (like many other review sites did when it was released)? Ok the 7950 has 2 GPU's but it's still a single card, right? So shouldn't Gamespot be pairing ATI's new card of against Nvidia's 7950?
Sorry it just really bugged me that review

the 7950gx2 beats the x1950xt thats why they don;t want to show it.

Yep it gets trounced by the GX2, the x1950 only beats the x1900 XTX by 1 frame, at the most 2.
