Points & insurance

So my 3 points for speeding are now 3 years old so they are finished with now right? why is it you have to disclose them to the insurance for 5 years? if there are only valid for 3 years then the insurance shouldnt need to know about them anymore or is it just another way to get more money from you? and why do they stay on your licence for 4 years seems really stupid why dont they just stay on your licence for 5 year and are valid for 5 years too

its added about £30 to my insurance, code is a SP60. im not really bothered tbh £30 is nothing really i was just wondering why they have different time scales on them

got my sp60 for speeding while in the Lakes on a 2 lane road, said on the letter i was doing 73 in a tempory 60 zone strange thing is there was no road works or any thing like that and there was no signs up saying tempory limits. not complaing though i was speeding and thats my fault. was in my dadas new 1.8 primera and was "testing it out " quite a step up in speed compaired to my little 1.0 micra learned my lesson that day and i try not to speed now
