Had a little search that didn't come up with much. Anyone know how long points (sp30 - speeding on public road) stay on your license for? I thought it was 3 years, my friends saying 4? Fingers crossed im right, otherwise i owe him a drink.....

You're both right.

They "count" for 3 years
Stay on the license for 4 (can be removed after this)
and insurance companies ask for your last 5 years of points history when calculating a quote.

damn..........i got 3 points in Feb of 2003, so i can only send my license in to get the points removed in Feb 2007? damn :(

The extra year they spend physically 'on' your licence is pretty meaningless anyway so I wouldn't worry about it. I guess the only relevance they would have is if you wanted to apply for the kind of job where a clean licence was essential.
