Pokemon

Gold is awesome, make sure you get that shiny Gyarados!

The old games are fantastic fun, but maybe a little dated now mcompared to some of the slickness of the latest generation. if it was me though i would have just bought, Emerald, FireRed/LeadGreen, Soul Silver/Gold, because these are better remakes in some ways than the originals you are going to do, plus they have a pokemon transfer path from their carts to the latest generation if you wanetds to dot hat, and the original game carts do not.

Ive just finished playing red (maybe through my work hours) this includes collecting every pokemon so had to play some Blue too, granted its taken most of 2011 to get around to finishing but my god the memories that game brings back to me! I spent so much of my life playing Pokemon ha!
I have one for the DS, Pearl i think so i may give that a go if i can find my charger!!

My only wish would be the game porting to smart phones but alas i cant see that happening!
I need to buy the original cartridges again!

Well it all turned up :)

I'm playing red at the moment, but I don't have any manuals.
I picked Bulbasaur and I don't know what the attacks mean, i.e
"Tackle : Type/Normal 35/35"
What do the numbers mean?

Also does "B" do anything :p

Yeah just figured it out, also what pokemon centres do :p
Do status affecting attacks like growl stack?

To a point.
You'll find they stop after a while :)
Best way to deal with things IMHO is to get a Poke with sand attack or similar and pound the accuracy down to minimum. Then concentrate on pulping them :p

keep catching pokemon and see what "Type" they are, then when you fight against that pokemon again just use an attack type that is super effective against the pokemon type you're fighting

like Electric moves vs. Water pokemon, just zaps them for double damage :D

Looked quite out of place tonight on the train, every1 with laptops, tablets and phones, me with my gameboy :p

Think I need to read a guide, had no idea that grass was super effective against rock, Bulba's vine wipe completely destroyed Brock :D

What's a good way to level up pokemon, I've got 5 now, but the problem is, Bulba's lvl 13 while the rest are only lvl 3-6.

This damn thing needs a online connection to a pokemon wikipedia or something :p

I had a weedle that evolved into kakuna and didn't learn harden, he's now evolved into Beedril and still doesn't have harden

The only Pokemon game I've ever played properly is Red god knows how many years ago, I recently ordered White, is the game different enough to be almost a new game for me?

The only downside seems to be a lot of the Gen 1 Pokemon from Red/Blue don't seem to be available in Black/White.

I've read lots of conflicting information on this and hopefully someone here will be able to confirm or deny, but I read that once you complete the game some of the original 150 are catchable. Other places say that they're only available through trading though.

Yep black and white have 150 new pokemon that are new. Once you get to the end you get your "nationaldex" which usually opens up the rest.

If I remember correctly once you've "completed" the main game and obtained the national pokedex it opens several new areas. These areas include many of the first 150 pokemon from Blue/Red. In White a good place to catch the originals is the White Forest or keep an eye out for swarm events which occur randomly throughout the game. Unfortunately Bulbasaur, Chamander and Squirtle are unavailable :(
