About 6 months ago I asked on here for advice on online poker. Would just like to say a big thanks to all that advised me on the subject.

Just a little a update on my progress I started with $10 on betfred playing 0.02/0.04 limit.

Currently playing limit .25/.50 tables with a bankroll of $300.

All gained from the original $10.

So thanks again to all who advised me on it.

I'm sorry to say I can't remember these people  but thanks anyway

are you speaking from experence by any chance??

Plan on working my way up the limits and hopefully havea slightly profitable hobbie.

Well thats the plan anyway..............

It's just my opinion that as the amount you win goes up your risk also goes up, and ultimately the House wins over greed. :)

I prefer to play safe, but I've never gambled for money. Share dealing > gambling for me :D

Edit: Typo fixing...and good luck :)

Agreed with the house will always win (rake) however there will always be fish due to like you say greed.

Still i'll no doubt be posting here in 6 months saying i've lost it all :p

Still if I do i've lost $10 and learnt a lesson :o

Anyone else play online poker here ??

Yes ;)

Mainly no-limit tournaments but also no-limit cash games.

Used to play limit games but they can be very frustrating with calling stations getting lucky.

Yeah I know what you mean about calling stations

I can't handle the swings of no limit :p

What so sort of limits do you play ???

How long you been playing for??

Not high..... usualy .50/1.00 or 1.00/2.00 NL

Mostly play tournaments..... buy in from 2.00 (when tipsy :D ) to 50.00 when feeling flush ;) - Play some sat's as well for the bigger buy in tourneys.

Been playing for about 18 months.

Looking to make it to a big live game this year but as i'm in the process of trying to move house so that will just have to wait. Some things do come before poker

Does anyone here actually play poker offline? I love the game but I just can't get into the online stuff. Feels more like gambling and less like social interaction. :/

25/50 cent. You don't need to play any higher.

I've been playing for around 18 months (12 months were pretty solid) and even went to Vegas to play table games there.

Thats quite high limits your playing there for no limit. Like i said don't play no limit due to high and low swings!!!!!!

The swings can be bad but if you are confident in your game and have the bankroll to cover then it's not all bad

I started with £200 and decided if I ever lost it all then the game was not for me.

A lot of practice, reading a lot of books (some excellent others not) and working hard on my discipline has meant that I’ve taken out the original £200 and have made a little bit more ;)

Thats so true. To win you do need a good chunk of money so that people can't intimidate you, that helps. IF you get past that and master patience and calls etc... you can do very well.

It's true that the casino makes money from hosting a poker game (table entrance fee, or rake in some cases) but you're not playing against the house. There's no house edge like with all other casino games (BJ, 3 card poker etc)
