played in a tourney tonight had a choice to make, not sure if I did the right thing though.

£20 rebuy (first 90 mins) and 75 or so players

280k chips in play or so and my stack was about 115k

5 Players were remaining and the suggestion of a split came up

The other stacks were about 85k, 15k, 30k and 35k

They wanted a 5 way split which was about £500 each.
I was the only one to disagree as I had a good lead on the others.

Prizes paid were £1300, 550, 280, 180, 120

I ended up out in 4th with £180 from a single buy in.
If I had to do it again, I think i'd do the same thing over, what do people think? Good move or silly?

Never make a deal if you think you can win.

If you have a monster stack (as you seemed to have) then the only deal to take is you get the 1st prize, and they split the rest between them. I'm not sure if you can do this online, but you can live.

Well done on the one buy in. I agree with that strategy. Let the other suckers rebuy and build the prize pool.

My hands stood up pretty well all night, but I played perfectly, not a single bad call all night. With more experience Live, may have pushed for a split giving me around £850, but we live and learn :)

yeah, good for you..

i mean unlucky, but if the odds are in your favour (chip leading in this case) then definitely go for the win!

That's ridiculous, i'd never split evenly in that situation. What you should do is pay everyone 5th place money and pro-rate the rest of the money according to chip stack. That's if you even want to deal to begin with. The maths don't work out 100% accurate (with decimals) the payout should have been.

1st: 871.58
2nd: 675.41
3rd: 348.75
4th: 315.81
5th: 217.90

At the casino I play at in Southend-on-Sea they stop the game at 3AM, and that's the method they use for distributing the pot.
