Hi!

First time in here. Got a D5100 earlier this week (Birthday pressie) with the twin lens kit (18-55 VR and 55-200 VR). Also accompanied by the "D5100 for Dummies" book (which is very much appreciated ) Thus far haven't taken a single pic other than the odd daft one of people in the house due to only having the camera in darkness (i.e. when I get home from work) and I'm not up to taking night shots yet. This weekend I'll be snapping away like a mad man.

I've been yearning to have a stab at decent photography for years (since I was ~12 and am now 30,) but never had the time nor money to do so before. Here's hoping it's going to last.

Apologies in advance if I ask any daft questions!

Book ordered

Went to St James' park, Buckingham Palace and Green park today. Didn't have any real ideas on what sort of snaps to take, so just took a variety of stuff to get use to different light conditions and so forth. It was tougher than I thought

Absolutely. I didn't expect to get even one good photo today, but there's one or two I'm quite fond of. They don't compare to those in the pic thread, but I'm certainly chuffed.

Another outing tomorrow, will be headed to the docklands!
