Polarity of wire

Hi, I bought some speaker wire from ******, and its "striped to show polarity" basically one side has a black stripe and the other is plain white. My speaker terminals are black and red, can anyone tell me which side is which? I'm guessing black stripe goes to the red terminal?

Correct stripe is the + so goes to RED.

black goes to black and red to red and in this case I would say black to black and white to red

Wrong, as I thought the stripe means +, red = +, so despite the stripe being black it goes to the red terminal!

It really makes very little differnce which goes where, just make sure it matches at the amp end.
