Police + Flood = lulz

Well that was predicatable

What is a 'Lulz'? Is that geek speak for laughing?

Just hope they were not on their way to some sort of emergency. Still best to stand and laugh rather than lend a hand eh, police aint human after all.

My driving instructor once told me (as we tended to live around an area that sees frequent flooding/deluged roads that best thing to do is to minimise the wave created at the front, so highish gear loads of revs, and move slow through the water trying not to cause a large wave that would flood the engine?

Been a while, so cant remember if that is exactly what he said.

Even if that was the case what was the point in trying to plow through it like that? They aren't going to get there at all now and have just lumped a nice repair bill on to the tax payer.

I would hazard a guess they were in a rush to answer a call and didn't have a measuring stick at the side of the road to know how deep the water was.

Having seen it happen to about 12 people in the last year going through a brook when walking my dog in the country I have a little sympathy for their plight

well worst case, go through slowly.. if it gets a bit high, reverse lol

or send someone to walk across infront of the car

hardly rocket science. i like the way he got the bow wave up to the roof lol

Trick is to keep a steady slowish speed, creates a bow-wave which lowers the level of the water infront of the bonnet slighlty. Added to that, driving into the water very fast is a stupid idea, it causes all the mechanical parts of the car to cool very quickly, as they cool they suck air back in through their breathers, if the breathers are under water...

It also forces water into undesirable places like bearings and CV/Prop shafts.

If that guy had gone slowly he'd have probably made it.

Excellent video! :D

I always thought that if water was at bonnet level and you went speeding in, keeping the gas on etc all that would happen is the air intake would suck the water up and destroy the engine?
